What software programs are used/recommended by some of the Featured Artists?

Examples of software packages for a variety of platforms are listed below.

2D Software

The following 2D software packages are useful in layouts, painting, drawing, airbrushing, editing and enhancing 3D renders/visuals. Our Gallery artists utilize some of the products below to create their Space: 1999 scenes. (Note: Plug-in software is not mentioned.)

Photoshop, Photoshop Elements: The industry standard: 2D digital image creation and editing software. (From Adobe.)

Fireworks: 2D digital image creation, optimization and editing of static and interactive graphics, similar to Adobe ImageWorks and Photoshop. (From Macromedia.)

ImageReady: 2D digital image creation, optimization and editing of static and interactive graphics. (From Adobe.)

Paint Shop Pro: 2D photo and graphics editing software, akin to Photoshop. (From Jasc Software.)

CorelDRAW, PhotoPaint: 2D graphic design and vector animation software. (From Corel.)

The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP): A graphics package for photo retouching, image composition and conversion and image authoring, akin to Adobe Photoshop. (From gimp.org).

Illustrator: The industry standard: 2D drawing software with bitmap and vector graphics features. (From Adobe.)

Freehand: 2D drawing software with bitmap and vector graphics features. (From Macromedia.)

Xara X: 2D drawing software for vector or bitmap images, akin to Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Freehand. (From Xara.)

DESIGNER: Vector illustration software specifically designed to help engineering and technical design professionals streamline the production of their technical graphics. (From Corel.)

Painter: Digital tools that mimic the traditional sketching and painting experience from digital art to illustration to pre-visualization to photography. (From Corel.)

ZBrush: A comprehensive collection of 2D and 3D painting, texturing and modeling tools. (From Pixologic.)
